Where we study

Someone from home is already there.

From Makerere to Mbarara, Kampala to Gulu — Anjouan students are enrolled at universities across Uganda. If you're deciding where to go, this is where to start.

What no brochure tells you.

The steps between "I got admitted" and "I'm settled in." Current members helped write this — it's the advice they wish they'd had.

Passport & student pass

Make sure your passport is valid for the duration of your studies. International students need a student pass — apply through Uganda's Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control.

University admission letter

You need an official admission or acceptance letter from your university before you can apply for a student pass or enter Uganda for study purposes.

Tuition & living costs

Tuition varies by university and program — public universities are generally more affordable. Budget for accommodation, food, transport, and personal expenses on top of fees.

Vaccinations & health insurance

Check required vaccinations before travel (yellow fever is mandatory). Consider health insurance that covers you in Uganda — some universities require it.

Accommodation

Some universities offer on-campus hostels. Off-campus rentals are common in Kampala — ask current ASAIU members for recommendations in your area.

Connect with ASAIU

Before you travel, reach out. A current member can help you navigate arrival, registration, and your first days — the practical steps that no brochure covers.
